Tips and guidelines for the perfect LED bar

Tips en richtlijnen om de juiste LED-bar te kiezen

LED bars are ideal for increasing your visibility, better illuminating terrain or your workspace, and giving your vehicle a tough look. But which LED bar really fits your vehicle and application?

In this blog, we provide practical guidelines, share our experiences, and explain what to look out for during mounting and use.

Choose the right LED bar for your vehicle

An LED bar from All Day Led offers excellent lighting and a sleek look for your vehicle. The bar features powerful LED lighting and provides a wide beam, allowing you to see further ahead and spot obstacles faster. Our LED bars are suitable for: trucks, campers and trailers, cars, 4x4s, and tractors.

Many LED bars are equipped with a dual-color position light, so your truck not only stands out well but also looks sleek on the road. Thanks to the robust design and IP68/IP69K ratings, they are perfectly resistant to water, dust, and other harsh conditions.

Additionally, most LED bars are suitable for both 12 and 24-volt systems, making them widely applicable to various vehicles. And for those who want to combine power and style, there are even LED bars integrated directly into a license plate holder!

Guidelines: LED bar length per vehicle type

Below is a general guideline of the most common LED bar lengths (in inches), using a truck as an example. This allows you to estimate which size is most suitable for your vehicle and application.

Vehicle / PlacementRecommended length (inch)Explanation / Tips
Truck – roof40 – 50 inchesFor maximum visibility. Note height and legal limits.
Truck – bumper / grille30 – 40 inchesGood visibility for close and medium range.
Car / 4×4 – roof or bumper10 – 32 inchesCompact to medium-sized bars for off-road or work.
Car / 4×4 – grille or bumper10 – 20 inchesShorter bar for close-range lighting, less blinding.
Tractor / agriculture – roof or front32 – 50 inchesFar and wide light spread, prevents dark terrain; IP67/IP69K recommended.
Tractor / agriculture – front or bumper12 – 32 inchesFor local work or off-roading; sturdy and robust design required.

Mounting, adjustment, and safety

Correct mounting ultimately determines how well an LED bar performs. Place the bar in a position where visibility is maximized without blinding other road users. During mounting, ensure solid attachment of brackets and cabling, and check if the lamp is sufficiently protected against vibrations, water, and dust (note the IP rating). For use on public roads, the LED bar must comply with current ECE regulations. On off-road vehicles and at workplaces, rules are often less strict, though visibility and safety always remain paramount.

Practical experiences and guidelines
Our practical experience shows that adjustment and mounting have more impact on the light pattern than length alone. For 4×4 vehicles and tractors, a high IP rating is important due to water, mud, and dust. For trucks, longer LED bars are often used on the roof because of the greater range, but legal heights and ECE rules must be taken into account. In all cases, the right length combined with correct mounting gives the best result.

In summary: choose an LED bar that fits the vehicle type and mounting location (see guidelines in the table), pay attention to the IP rating and robustness, and use approved LED bars when driving on public roads.
